compatibility of MPT 1327 and APCO 25 trunk system
We are trying to propose a trunk system using APCO 25. Another system is going to have MPT 1327. Does this two system communicate each other with out having any difficulties. KDSP

Re: compatibility of MPT 1327 and APCO 25 trunk system
APCO 25 is a CAI (common air interface) that uses a full digital signal in an out. the CAI spec does require all P25 subscriber radios to support legacy analog (FM) operation.
MPT1327 is an analog trunking format.
P25 radios could be programmed to talk on conventional analog modes, most MPT1327 radios may support this also. So theoretically the subscriber units could communicate over conventional FM channels if programmed to do so.
P25 trunking is a totally different show than MPT1327...

If you have an MPT1327 truking system and an APCO25 system, radios on both systems can talk to one another seamlessly by connecting a SiteCAST to each system. The systems can be of any distance apart (i.e. anywhere in the world). You can have any number of or mix of systems, anywhere in the world, all that is needed is a SiteCAST on each system. Normally, users of radios on these systems would not only have "difficulties" but they wouldn't be able to communicate at all.
