I am hoping someone knows what is necessary to convert an Astro Spectra that had a W5 control head on it work with a W3 control head. The radio originally with the W3 was accidentally destroyed. I have two radios with the W5 and would like to change to work with the W3 since it goes in an unmarked vehicle. Hope that someone can help me in this moment of desperation.
Thanks,
Blaine

How was it accidentally destroyed??? Are these hi or mid power radios. If they are of the same output power and the vocon and interconnect board survived being "destroyed" you could use those and be all set.bbertrand wrote:I am hoping someone knows what is necessary to convert an Astro Spectra that had a W5 control head on it work with a W3 control head. Re: Change from W5 Control Head to W3 Control Head
It was destroyed by being run over by a tractor because they did not know the radio was on the wheel well in the shop and they came by while I was out picking up other parts. It bounced a few times before getting run over. They are all Hi-Power Radios. How do I identify the Vocon and Interconnect boards?
If they are not workable, then I am doomed huh? At least from the perspective of trying to make a W3 control head work with W5 or W9 radio. Am I right in that assumption?
Thanks for the help.
