aftermarket radio power cables?

Post by radio64 »

I know there has to be someplace that sells the polarized bullet connectors for the dash mount series radios, I just can't seem to find any right now. Might someone tell me where they get their power cable supplies? The local RadShack and NAPA have the plugs, but they have very small wiring (18 ga maybe?) and I don't want to run a 50 watt Spectra on that... All help pointing me in the right direction is appriciated. Thanks!

Try checking with a CB shop. If you have one in your area that carries "Workman" accessories, they make a compatible plug with 10 gauge wire. I've been using them for a few years now on all my radio gear (well, all of it that doesn't draw more than about 30 amps). Makes changing equipment around a snap. Of course, it you know of anywhere besides a CB shop that carries Workman products, feel free to check there as well. CB shops are simply the only place that I know to look. 8)

Bypass the CB shops and double your purchasing power by checking sellers on FleaBay or if you want to buy on a wholesale level ($70.00 min, I believe), just go direct to:

If you have a store that sells marine supplies, there is an electric trolling motor that uses these connectors. They have the heavier wiring. I beleive it might be Minn-Kota, but not sure. I saw some of them in Wal-mart in the boat section.

Did some googling. Minn Kota part number 1865101 . 10 ga wire. Priced from $9-$20. West Marine sells them for 13.99. I'm sure Walmart would be cheaper.

+1 for the Kendoo cables. They're the same exact thing as a Motorola OEM cable, but about $15-$20 cheaper.
