Astro Saber 3 HELP!!!!!!

Post by themedic66 »

Ok guys,

On my Astro Saber 3, out of 127 channels, only channels 1-11 are accessible through the top rotary knob, the rest only through the Chan Menu. Here's 2 examples of my problem:

#1) The rotary switch is on chan 1 Disp, but I use the chan menu and I go to chan 66. The slightest touch to the rotary knob(not changing it, just a slight touch/nudge), and volume knob, or even switching the switch from A to B or vice-versa will force the radio to take me back to chan 1 Disp(or whatever chan the rotary knob is on). It then stays on that chan, and to go back to Chan 66 I have to once again access it throught the Chan Menu.

#2) Let's say i'm on Chan 1 Disp, and i touch the rotary knob, the display shows Chan 9(8 chans away), and then displays Chan 1 again. OR if i'm on chan 3, and i nudge/touch the rotary knob, it displays chan 11(8 chan away) and then goes back to chan 3. Once again, this also happens when i nudge the vol knob, and switch the "A/B selector".

Does anyone have any suggestions on what my problem might be?

Thanks

What radios do you own?: What's a radio?

If the Astro Saber is like the regular Saber, your channel selector has five solder connections, ground, 1 ,2, 4 & 8. You probably have a bad solder connection between the flex circuit and the 8 tab (which is why you switch up 8 channels).

I've had the rotary switch go bad on more than a few XTS's, and see this exact problem on an AS1.

Replace the 16 pos. switch and your problem will be solved.
