Motorola Flash Purchase - Process and How Long to Wait?

Post by HKMP5 »

My Moto dealer has had my XTS2500 for almost 2 weeks now to purchase and install Option Q883 (3600/9600 Interoperability) and program my departmental frequencies.
Can anyone tell me what the purchase of a Flash Upgrade from /\/\ involves and how long it should take? I just want to be educated on the process as I may have more radios to do in the future and want to have reasonable expectations. I assumed it was a program that gets emailed to the dealer with a registration key and the time frame would be within a week. If shipping / US Mail is involved, I see more of a delay....
Thanks in advance for your knowledge / actual experience.

I've only had to order flash upgrades four times. Three of the times, they sent them to me either overnight , or second day. I had one, where I was in a pissing match with them about, that took about ten days. Chances are; your dealer is backed up on more lucrative projects. Also; some of these dumba$$es have never done flash upgrades, so they may have an aversion to doing it all. Motorola is pretty unforgiving about you screwing up flashes - if you're a dealer or NSO.
