Disable Spectra rear control head in RSS?

Post by nh7cy »

So I picked up a UHF W9 Spectra (one of the ex-LAFD radios). Only now have I found out that it's a dual control head radio. I only got one control head with the radio (it just occurred to me that I might want to check whether it is the front or the rear head). If it is the front head, is there any way to program the radio without the rear head and disable it in RSS?)

As of now I can't access the radio with RSS because I can't turn it on (Rear control head was set to turn on the radio I guess). I tired switching out the heads to test the radio for functionality (put on an A5 head) I got error code 01/65, and when I went to program the radio I got an error saying RSS couldn't access the S9000e control head. Is there any way around this or do I just have ot look around for a rear head?

Thanks

Make up a DB25 with 20 and 22 jumped. Plug it in in place of the control cable and you should be able to read the radio. We use this all the time to program A5 and A7 spectras.

With a A9 it would not work to program the head but you should still be able to read the radio.
