Jedi Transmit Audio

Post by W2MB »

Is there an RSS or hardware adjustment for tx audio level on the JT1000? I've noticed that it seems a bit low compared to my HT155xls.

You can enable AGC (Automatic Gain Control). Set it to Internal/External (which means it will work with a speaker mic as well). It can sometimes sound like a jet vacuum in the backround, so some people don't like it. But give it a shot...

Before fooling around too much with the different settings you should try to tune up the deviation. If you have a monitor use that to see if you are getting the 4.5k dev for wideband or the 2.5k dev for the narrow band. After that if you find that your tuning deviation is good your issue is likely in the microphone on the cover. A good test for that is to use a remote mic and look at the dev with that. Jedi mics tended to go out semi regularly so that could be the root of your problem. Also, depending on the version of your radio you might be able to go into the tuning section and change the mic gain. I don't generally recomend this but hey, it's your radio and there are many people who do make adjustments via the mic gain.
