CDM1550LS LTR issues

Post by Sarge, USMC »

It seems like the LTR only models of this radio have a problem that Passport compatible radios don't, and I was looking for some input from the field. Has anyone else noticed that the LTR only radios don't filter out the low speed data from the receive signal and the Passport compatible radios do?

AAM25RKF9DU5AN - LTR
AAM25RKF9DP5AN - Passport

This is obviously maddening, as the low speed data is audible in the rx signal.

Has anyone else seen this?

What radios do you own?: HT1550XLS, CDM1550LS+, MTS2000

I've had trouble with the older firmware in these radios running LTR modes. Radios missing transmissions, radios giving the que to talk but nothing is aired over the system, noise on Rx, etc. Once I updated the radios the user reported back they were running 10 times better. Even the most current release of the firmware for the Waris series has LTR improvements in it.

In theory, the only differnce between LS and LS+ is the passport option board. For marketing reasons Moto stopped selling the LS only versions. There could be other differences I am not aware of but this is how I understand it.

Upgrade the firmware and try that. Also, the data for LTR is not audible. You'd have to have a stereo with really good low bass in order to hear it.

Firmware has been upgraded. And the LTR codeword or low speed data or whatever you want to call it is in fact audible in the receive audio, and that is the problem.

What type of repeaters are the LTR controllers connected to, and what level has the data been set to?
