Security Suggestions - Quantar

Post by TFLeader »

Am installing a Quantar repeater for a low profile operation in a site that has minimal security. Other than installing padlocks on the cabinet and password protecting the software does anyone have any further suggestions?

Yes, Alarm the cabinet. Use a zetron Sentrivoice on magnetic contacts or pressure contacts that puts an audible alert over the air, thus alerting the users.

This might be able to be done with a wild card, and making the quantar send a fixed tone or MDC alert over the air. But to program the wild card or SAM you need to be the person that wrote the software and built the repeater.

I have been staring at the programming manual, software, and quantar for months, and I can't figure a damn thing out. The programming is way to complicated. I wish someone would put a sticky about it.

Good Luck, Rob

Bolt the cabinet to the floor from the inside, that's what I do. Even if it's not alarmed, put a sticker on the front of the cabinet that indicates that it's alarmed, and leave a contact number below the notification.

Have you thought about PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers)? Some have an IP interface that can be used to monitor that way.
