Help with AS3

Post by BLOCKHEAD »

I have an Astro Saber 3 in a Model 2 case...the six buttons, however, do not seem to work at all. I pulled the case off and everything seems OK, but all I get are random beeps and no menu action. Any ideas? Thanks!

1. Does the radio's display show several selections? It's possible in the CPS
to remove all the listings except one.

2. If the above is not the case the problem may lie in the space between the
case keys and the button contacts on the shield. I never had any problem with
the AS3s I've owned but I've heard of this problem from others. You might be
able to find something here on the Board via a search, and also hopefully someone
with a better memory than mine will jump in to help.

You may have one of the bad run of Astro Saber cases Motorola was putting out between 2005 and 2006. The front buttons would work erratically or not at all.

Does the radio have factory model/serial and Flashport tags?

Whore flash, but the other tags are factory.

That would rule out a non-Depot case swap. I guess it could've been through the depot during the bad case run, though.. you don't have a known good one you can try?

I would also suggest lack of a front keypad overlay (clear piece of sticky plastic containing the contact "popples"), but if it's beeping that rules that out.

I just ordered a new case for the radio...an AS3 case, which I was meaning to do for another radio. If that doesn't work...I'll be perplexed as hell!
