Modding a Minitor 2 earphone outlet

So I'm willing to experiment with modding the unit with the intent of disabling the earphone outlet and turning it into an external antenna connection. I expect to retain the outlet and create an antenna using the same type male plug as the outlet. It should be able to transfer between my car/home; both with ext antennae, each cut to single ch, so specific freq.

Has anyone ever tried this mod? Advice, hints, tricks...etc?
