pro cps 6.09.06 cannot create unknown radio component

Trying to use CPS 6.09.06 and i get this message <cannot create unknown radio component>

When i uninstall and go back to 6.08 i get same message now on same machine that worked before.

try upgrading to 6.10 and see what that does for you. your 6.09 is post firmware cutoff so it should be able to read any of the pro radios but 6.08 is not, if your portable is over 5.13.04 or mobile is over 5.06.04 then you will need at least 6.09. what radio are you trying to read with it and what region is your cps?

I was trying to read a pre firmware radio. THis would come up before it would ask what com port.

you should be asked for a com port first but not it you already have one assigned. open the program, click on file the click read device and it will ask you for a com port. select the com port and it will read the radio.

i am unable to get to that point this was a new install on a computer.

what's your computer setup, rib box, cable?

oem cable, rib box. win xp machine xp sp2 compaq using iogear usb cable.

i upgraded from ver 6.08.05 on my machine.

your problem is your usb to serial adaptor. get a computer with a real serial port and all of your problems will go away.

I am running the same software on a Vista notebook with a USB Cable and I have no problems at all. I am now having problems with the same software on a Vista 64-bit laptop. I am getting this error code now. I'm assuming that it is because if the 64-bit Vista software. As I mentioned, I have a brand new laptop that has Vista 32-bit system and it works fine. I used to use the USB cable on XP and I also had no problems.

if anyone has a fix for my current situation, I would appreciate it.

On newer firmware radios, you should be using OEM serial ribless cable and not external rib and cable. Also USB to serial adapters are hit and miss, unreliable.
