Remind me, please...MTX programs with which software?
I've got a need to program and check out several MTX series radios. They're the Jedi series MTX,
not the Genesis series. Model number H01UCC6DB3AN.
I can't remember which software you use to program these.
Please clue me in, and hopefully, very soon. The customer's hot for these.

MTSX. DOS. Latest is 6.07 or something close to that.

Re: Remind me, please...MTX programs with which software?
I have 6.05, and some earlier versions, (all genuine Motorola, not copies) and my PC for the old DOS RSS is a 486-33 Compaq of the integrated variety.
(PC is housed with the monitor, just plug in a keyboard and power and you're done.) This unit works fine on many other RSS titles, and in fact is extremely
reliable, but for some reason it fails the comm port test with MTSX. Is 6.05 too new for a 486-33? And if so, what's the ideal range of computer types and speeds to run with this version?

Re: Remind me, please...MTX programs with which software?
how much RAM? IIRC MTSX needs at least 4MB of RAM. It does use an old PharLap DOS extender to run in extended memory. I think a 66MHz CPU or faster is required.

Re: Remind me, please...MTX programs with which software?
It's got 20 MB, so that's enough, I think. It starts up and runs fine, I just can't get a connection to the radio even though other RSS titles work fine with their radios.
I'm losing time...and money...by not being able to get these radios programmed. It figures that now would be the first time I had problems programming
a Moto radio with proven reliable equipment.

A dollar to a doughnut says it is a cable issue (or radio accessory connector or internal flex).
I run umpteen versions of MTSX on an old (but carefully preserved) 486-25 NEC laptop with no issues.

I can read any other Jedi radios with this same setup. All cables are authentic Motorola cables, and they're
all very close to new. They're just a few months old.
I've tried six separate MTX radios so far and not one of them will read.
Strange.

MTSX software services MTX838, MTX8000 and MTX9000 only (and MT2000 & MTS2000, of course).
Are you trying to use it on MTX800 or 900 models maybe?

I gave the model number. The radio front cover label just says MTX so I presume it's an MTX 800.

Prob a dumb question, but just to make sure all your bases are covered..... You do have the right com port selected in the MTSX setup right?

If your radio has old firmware, programming it with the latest CPS will not add any new features unless you have the latest firmware to match..
CPS = Customer Programming Software, Not CPS Software.

Yeah...I'm a veteran of this stuff. Really. But I usually mess with Astro stuff, not Jedi stuff.

What, still no answer?
It shouldn't be this difficult to find out what software to use on a Jedi MTX radio that's not an MTS-anything or an MTX8000 or 9000.

Providing it is a stock/legit radio and it is 800mhz and says "MTX" on the front, then it is a MTX8000 and you use the MTSX DOS.
I have a 900mhz here at work and they all just say MTX instead of MTX9000.
Re: Remind me, please...MTX programs with which software?
The Jedi radios don't say MTX8000 or 9000 on the sticker. They say MTX. If it's an 800, it's an MTX8000.
An MTX800 is a Genesis unit (think HT600).

Re: Remind me, please...MTX programs with which software?
I know a Genesis series radio very well, thank you. HT600, MT1000, MTX 800, MTX 810, MTX 820, MTX 838. Battery on the bottom, not on the back.
I was doing this when the Genesis series was brand new and nobody at Batlabs had ever seen one in person yet. The Jedi series was a distant dream.
I'm referring to the Jedi platform MTX radios, not the MT or MTS series. I gave the specific model number in question (one of a couple) in my first post in
this topic. And I've gone through EVERY version of Jedi software I've got, from MTSX 4 to the latest MTSX CPS release, and still I can't read these particular
radios. It's frustrating, particularly when you consider that I'm getting paid to check them out. I can't get paid for checking them out if I can't check them out.

Re: Remind me, please...MTX programs with which software?
the model number you gave is a B3 MTX8000. Most Jedi MTX radios don't have a model designation on the front (e.g, MTX8000), per the model number, the DOS MTSX RSS is the correct programming software for these radios. Last known version is 6.08 and was released when CPS first appeared (note MTS2000 CPS will NOT program an MTX or MT2000).

Re: Remind me, please...MTX programs with which software?
The frustrating thing is that I've got several of these radios which I can't successfully read with the allegedly CORRECT software,
though I have every version of MTSX DOS software from version 4 to the last DOS version, and CPS up to the current version.
Yet, with these radios, I get either a checksum error, or a codeplug too new error, or even a codeplug too OLD error, and even when
I use my oldest version (4) of the software.
I'm about to say screw it and just throw them in the junk pile. Life is too short to keep screwing around with radios that are of limited
utility these days anyway.
It just ticks me off that these relatively simple radios, which I've mostly ignored for my entire career because they're so simple and basic,
are giving me trouble when I can make full-featured Astros do tricks that Mother M doesn't even want you to know they can do!
I've been involved with radios at one technical level or another for 25 years now. I wouldn't have guessed that a stupid MTX8000 would be
annoying me this much at this point in the game.

Ahh, you're such an expert, but a measly little Jedi radio slows you down? Hell, I'm not sure why you bother either. Throw those hunks of junk away and get back to hacking teh k5 ast0rs.Elroy Jetson wrote:I was doing this when the Genesis series was brand new and nobody at Batlabs had ever seen one in person yet. Maybe you don't remember me. But I was a moderator here before you even joined, IIRC.
You show no class, no manners, and should not be a moderator. Man, I wish I'd kept my mod status and stayed active on this forum, so I could permaban you
for being a piss-poor excuse for a moderator right now. (Presuming I'd have advanced into a staff position, which would have been likely.) I'd do it.

Re: Remind me, please...MTX programs with which software?
have you tried the "forbidden fruit" version? I had this trouble before with a pair of B3 MTX's I got off broken-stolen radios.com, and it turned out that the codeplugs were corrupted by some genius who tried to force a B7 codeplug into them. I would try cloning a known good codeplug into them, sometimes the clone feature can get by corruption as error like this.Elroy Jetson wrote:The frustrating thing is that I've got several of these radios which I can't successfully read with the allegedly CORRECT software,

What he said, and I would also start looking into the possibility that the controllers might have been hit with euro software... Just a thought because stranger things have happened with people force feeding Jedi's....MTS2000des wrote:have you tried the "forbidden fruit" version? I was thinking in that direction but even if I HAD such software, it's not worth it in this case. I think I'm done with those radios.

May be the best thing you can do... The B3 was a type 1 only unit. There was an F3 that was type 2 only also.

I've discovered that I'm fighting problems with radios that are either severely corrupted or have been very badly hacked.
I was able to read one using the HT1000 software and it reports as a UHF radio but the hardware is 800.
Yeah, this ain't right.
I've given up on them. It's a waste of my time. Anyone want to buy some parts radios?
