I have two Hi power conventional Spectra's operating in V/U ham bands. With all the repeater splits and such having zones would
be great. However, both have their original Ver. 2 MLM boards. Finding ver. 6+ boards is next to impossible. On the boards I
have seen a lot of references to burning PROMS to update the MLM. I have found no comments by anyone who has actually done
this. Since I have most of the equipment required and it is an interesting idea. Is there anyone out there who actually has done
this? Is there a downside, or gotchas to watch out for?
Thanks for your advice

Re: Spectra Update Question
A friend of mine has been buying VRM's on ebay for cheap, and taking the 6.XX version MLM's out and bit banging them to work in other radios. That's one possible source. I understand it's also possible to clone the firmware, if you're adept at surface mount soldering and desoldering.
