Issues w XTS speakermic RMN 5038A
Just got a new RMN 5038A speaker mic for use with my XTS (same issue with other xts' I have tried this on). This looks like a commander speakermic, but has more limited options: PTT, volume control and Orange Emergency button with an audio jack, only. I can rx/tx just fine on it, but neither then emergency button nor the volume control seems to be working. Anyone got any tips other than a return/exchange?

- What radios do you own?: APX4K, XTL5K, NX5200, NX700HK

What type of radio are you using and what's the firmware? Only newer firmware revisions (and I don't recall exactly which, but seem to recall 7.25.00 for XTS3k) will allow the mic to work right.jedi_saber wrote:Just got a new RMN 5038A speaker mic for use with my XTS (same issue with other xts' I have tried this on). Re: Issues w XTS speakermic RMN 5038A
Thanks, Josh. I tried it on a bunch of radios (3-4) of them, and they are typically 7.71, so I am thinking it's the mic itself. Unless folks have any other suggestions, I will bring it to the shop to have it replaced...

The orange button on those mics are not "emergency" buttons, they are "man down" buttons. Pushing the button activates the man down function. It depends a lot on how the radio is programmed. The problem that we had was the shortest key press we could get was 1 second.
You might want to try the commander mic instead.
4 models, 2 with ear jacks, 2 without (submersible), 2 with channel change, 2 without.

Put the radio in test mode and see if the button pushes throw up any numbers on the display.
