MDC Emergency revert question

Post by pfd radio »

Scenario is - A firefighter at an incident using a conventional analog simplex channel (selected channel). The "Emergency channel" is a simplex channel being monitored by the Command Post with a CDM1550 "Emergency channel radio".

If it is model specific then lets use an HT1250 setup to revert to the "Emergency channel"

In regard to MDC1200 emergency revert -
1) Will the radio just transmit the Emergency packet on the "Emergency revert channel"? And the voice remain on the selected channel.
2) Will the radio remain on the "Emergency revert channel" until it is acknowledged? Or will it switch to the "Emergency revert channel" just to send the emergency packet?
3) If the user pushes the PTT, after sending the emergency, will the radio transmit audio on the selected channel or the "Emergency revert channel"?
4) Where will the radio receive audio from (Selected channel, "Emergency revert channel") prior to the "Emergency" being acknowledged.

Also if anyone can list the radios capable of decoding an MDC Emergency. This will be completely independent of our dispatch system, so everything needs to be local to the incident scene.

Thanks in advance - for any info
