Motorola Rib

Post by JD »

My rib was damaged beyond repair in a fall. Should I replace with another Motorola Rib ,or are there other alternatives that are as reliable ?

Thanks.

Don't throw it out! If you have the knowhow to trace down whats broke, save it! If it just fell and hit a hard surface floor? (sound like you dropped a mobile on it?) There are people that will try to repair it out there. those units are hard to break. I never used the aftermarkert RIBS... I only use Motorola. So wait for a post on other alternatives from someone else.... you may want to list what radios you program with, so you can shed some light on the alternative use of other Ribs... You may want to contact batlab user: WILL, he repairs RIBS... A Search on RIB Repairs brings up over 100 posts.... Jim

Just for grins I took a look at eBay and found there are currently 13 RIBs for
sale, most of them being Motorola clone units for under $40 each, which is
pretty good pricing. It pays to have at least two RIBs, whether they're both
Motorola is an option, but it does pay to have two on hand. I have one real
4008 and two clones and they all work very well.

There ya go Tom! On 8/26-27/08 someone posted here they needed "parts for a RIB"... Ebay had 1 just missing a battery door, starting bid was .99cents -- ended at $66.00 [ 310077985741 ]
