Converting XTS3000 Model 1 to Model 2 ?

Post by Leadenwah »

In converting the XTS3000 Model 1 to a Model 2,
there MUST be more to it than simply programming
a Model 2 codeplug into the Model 1 radio and
changing the housing, adding display, etc.

Does this require a Reflashing of the radio?

The only reason why you would need a firmware upgrade is if you buy a new display from motorola, which requires a different display driver. Short of that, there is no need to do any firmware changes when changing from a model 1 to a Model 2/3 XTS3000.

If you purchase a new screen from motorola I believe there is a SRN which gets you a free firmware upgrade providing your radio isn't a nick radio (aka has serial number, legit flash). Additionally, you must have a MOL account and a CPS license for that series as well.

Thanks very much, Alex.
That's a big help.
I don't think that will be a problem.
