Acidental Keyups HT1250/750

Post by pluto1914 »

I have noticed with the line of HT1250/750 radios I have used that if you accidentally bump the PTT button it will transmit the MDC PTT ID. However with the XTS radio I have this is not the case. I can bump the PTT button all day and the only way to get the ID to TX is to hold it down. *Note both radios are programmed with Pre PTT ID's.

Is there a way to have the HT1250/750's not TX the PTT ID unless the PTT button is held down?

Thanks,

David

Hmm, you could try playing with the MDC Pretime under the advanced tab. This sets how long the radio waits to send the MDC upon PTT. The default is 500ms, but you can set it as high as 4500ms.

I tried playing with the pretime and just for yucks I adjusted the pretime to 4500ms. All that did was lock the radio up with a sidetone for 4.5 seconds. So that wouldn't work if I accidentally bumped the PTT button.

I also tried doing a side by side comparative of the XTS CPS and the HT750 CPS and I couldn't come to a conclusion which option controlled that, if any at all.

If anyone else has any insight it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Stray key-ups are a problem. I'd be trying to identify why you're keying the radio erroneously and fix the problem, rather than trying to fight a symptom. You may need a better carry system, speaker mic clip, etc.

T'would appear it's a difference in how the firmware in the professional series radios treats the pre-MDC as compared to the XTS radios. The HT's are bound & determined to send it, regardless of how long you hold down the PTT. Can't say I've ever noticed one way or the other.

You might consider using one of the older HMN9030A GP300 speaker-mics with the HT1550 to reduce the probability of acidental tx keyups. The GP RSMs had non-protruding PTT buttons, unlike the Waris series RSMs whose PTT buttons extend beyond the housing's edge.... so people have to overtly press the PTT. If you choose to try this you'll need the AAHLN9716_ adapter.

I agree with wavetar, this is a function of firmware design and not something you can configure.
