'Base Commander' antenna series by Andrew/Decibel/AS

I am thinking about purchasing Andrew/Decibel Products 'Base Commander' series antenna like is:

ASP-680, ASP-682, ASP-685 & etc.



Anybody have experience with them?

How they in comparison with RFS/Celwave, Sinclair, Procom, Kathrein & etc. base omni fiberglass antennas?

It's correct that they originally made by Antenna Specialist? I do not trust Antenna Specialist production as it is similar to cheap Chinese toys (if to speak about mobile antennas).

What is your required application?

I had serious problems with the AS antennas also. Have not used any since Andrew took over them.
They have small diameter elements. <<<< This severely limits the bandwidth, frequency range, of the antenna.

What is your required application?

I am looking for antenna for base station (operating range 162-172 MHz).

Antenna must be broadband (bandwidth => 10 MHz) and have gain 5 dBi or more.

On what is it influences, except the maximum input power? I do not have requirement for powers more than 60 watts.

I was using one in an amateur repeater application a number of years back at 340'. After about 2 years it because very harmonic in windy conditions (15 to 20 MPH) and inbound signals from the distant users were very noisy. It has since been changed to a folded dipole (DB224) with no problems since then.

I don't think it was a power issue that caused it as I was using no more than 100 watts out of the PA.
