JT1000 FPP

Post by CGRESQ192 »

I just picked up a JT1000.

Yes, I have already read the model specific info on here.

My Question is, do I need the key to peform the government mod? Or can the radio be read without it and hex edited?

Any info is appreciated

No, you don't need the hardware key to read the JT.

It was a funny story that was posted here long ago, "on this secret goverment mod. where you don't need a program key anymore", and can still use a spk. mic.

I think he's referring to the codeplug edit that bypasses any checks for the hardware key(which, as you said Jim, has only a diode in it).

Yes, i am requesting the codeplug mod.

When I read the radio do I need the key?

Also, if someone could please give me a step by step on how to do this I am a total newbie.

Yes, you really need to dumb it down for me to understand it.

Specifically what I need to click on and type in hex workshop.

no you do not need the key to read the radio. The key covers the accy port that you have to use in order to read the codeplug.
Light travels faster than sound. This is why some people appear bright until you hear them speak.

The instructions are quite specific: http://www.batlabs.com/visar.html

If you're having problems with operating your hex editor, consult the help files.

If you're having problems understanding hex editing, this Wikipedia article may be of help: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hex_editor

You can also search Google for extensive information on hex editing.
