i just ran across this ebay ad for a jt1000 I was wonering what you folks thought about the price. I am looking for a jt and I don't see too many of them around anymore.

Be aware that they are just selling JUST the radio. If you want to do FPP you will need a programming key. Thanks to Batlabs, they show you how to make your own...Go to: http://www.batlabs.com/visar.html and look for "The JT1000 Programming Key"

you can buy a programming key off ebay for $15.00 - $20, $25.00 + or - As for your original top post 97... In 2003/2004 I sold five JT1000's NIB, each one on the bay, with 1 battery, ops manual, charger. and a Key! for over $500. to $625.00 ... the last 2-3 yrs. like n7mag said, appx: $300 is a fair price! just for the radio.

Yeah $300 is mid-low range for a JT. Some will charge around $425-500 for a nice one, and that isn't uncommon. They've probably got the hands-down best audio for an FPP radio vs. an HT1550 or XTS5000 (I'm not a huge fan of the Astro DSP but it does sound OK, I'm partial to the Jedi series).

From the looks of that JT1000 auction, you don't even need a programming key ether. Looks like the owner enabled the "government mode" that lets you just input a password into the radio, and bypass having the programming key. And, yes that is a VERY good asking price. Most (and I'm very surprised that he's not asking MUCH more) sell around $500 + in that condition.

I always like to make a package deal, since all was NIB/OS - 5 yrs. ago. I thru in a Key. (Sell the radio alone if the buyer wants it, you cut off the $$$.) A Package like I made. And I thru in 1 belt clip, port cover, the whole box! ect... I can start the bid at $550.00, and my feedback was always 100% but you already know that... now times changed.
