Unusual XP Home issue

Post by N4DES »

I'm attempting to install CPS into a newer laptop that has XP home and only USB ports (no serial or DVD/CD unit).
So I load up ver 12.00.00 Astro 25 on a thumbdrive and go through a sucessful loading of the program with no issues.

I then re-boot the PC and attempt to run the portable CPS and it gives me a "file missing error" and shuts down. I go ok and try the mobile CPS and get the same error. The error is not specific as to what file is missing so I'm at a loss. I searched the archives and didn't see anyone with a similiar issue with XP Home so if anyone has any input please send it my way.

Thanks
Mark

I've had the same problem with both Astro 25 CPS and MTS2000 CPS if it doesn't "see" a COM1/COM2/COM3/COM4 on a laptop (a Lenovo R61 with XP Pro SP3) with no real serial port. Once I installed a USB-serial adapter and a serial port both CPS applications would run.
