Quantar Question

Post by SDOG »

I am new to Quantars but have question.. Currently have a quatar that is set up as a repeater/base station.
Dispatch pushes analog signal to the TX site via microwave, mobile/portables use as a repeater.

Would like to to set up as mixed mode repeater.

Does a quantar have the ability to have two personalities..
Pers 1 is Analog only through microwave back to dispatch..and via repeate function to users
Pers 2 would be mixed mode, or P25 Dig to users and dispatch through a control station.
If an analog signal comes in it would be routed through wireline/microwave.
If p25 comes in it repates out and is received by dispatch through the control station, with out attempting to come through the microwave...
Would the above work? Or is it even possible...

Same input/outputs freqs, just analog via microwave, p25 through control station.

I know that without a control station a DIU would be needed to route all through the microwave system.

Thanks for you help!!

The DIU would be needed to allow the console to decode the ASTRO voice and then encode it back to the transmitter. You'd need v.24 modem connections to do this between dispatch and the site.

Quantars can be programmed as "mixed mode", meaning what goes in is what comes out.

So there ya go.
