number identifier

Post by tcash158 »

We have several radios on our Dept that have number id's in them already that are mdc 1200. What I need to know is how do I take one that had a number id in it already and change its id and make it so all the other radios will see the new unit number insted of the old one when they key up. Can you just change the radio to the new id or unit number without changing any of the recieve charicteristics on all the other radios?

Depends if the receive radios are using aliases. If they are only displaying the actual ID, then you all you need to do is change the transmit ID on the radio in question. If the receive radios have an alias list, then you'll need to edit the alias list so the new ID will display on the radios.

Ah ha, not to hyjack here but can the alias be edited via the menus on the radio (if enabled), or is it something that you have to edit with the software?
