XTS2500 Conventional with MDC
Can a XTS 2500 do MDC in a conventional mode without having to upgrade to P25 trunking or Conventional trunking mode. If so can you give me the serial plug for that version with upgrade to immersion and is rating. Thanks.
Re: XTS2500 Conventional with MDC
Depends on what you mean by "do MDC". If you're talking aboud encoding/decoding MDC, yes. If you're talking about advanced stuff like MDC aliasing, believe you need Digital ID display.dkaskie wrote:Can a XTS 2500 do MDC in a conventional mode without having to upgrade to P25 trunking or Conventional trunking mode.
I don't grok that. Come again?dkaskie wrote:If so can you give me the serial plug for that version with upgrade to immersion and is rating. Thanks.

I really hope you're not:dkaskie wrote:If so can you give me the serial plug for that version with upgrade to immersion and is rating. Thanks.
A - asking for firmware...
B - assuming you can upgrade the radio to submersible and FM/IS rating via software... if so, we should talk about a low-mileage bridge I have for sale...
Re: XTS2500 Conventional with MDC
No to both of those. I know better than that. I was asking for the serial number/model number? for the version that would do conventional VHF with MDC signaling and MDC ID's alias.
Re: XTS2500 Conventional with MDC
The term you want is flashcode. All the options you seek are present in every radio out there (well, except IMBE - that's a special case). They simply aren't enabled. You pay Moto to toggle feature bits on to enable what you want. You'll need K-split for VHF, and a model with a display for ID display.dkaskie wrote:No to both of those. I know better than that. Flashcode decoder
Sounds like you want Q806 ASTRO Digital Operation, H14 Enhanced Digital ID Display, H35 Conventional Systems Operation, and possibly Q352 User Definable ID (Soft ID). The proper FC would be 500001-040000-x (final digit is a checksum).

Just an FYI... A 2500 display model will decode MDC ID's on the display without the need for the traditional H14 ID display in the flashcode like it's big brother the 5000.. It's already built in, at least on the later firmware rev's.. This is not to say you won't see 2500's with a flashcode that starts with a 5.. Just saying that a 100001-000000-7 flashcode on a 2500 should have the tab in the display area of the CPS for ID display already there. Same goes for Q352, it is no longer a flash option, as it's already integrated into the radio..

Stupidity creates job security!
If your radio has old firmware, programming it with the latest CPS will not add any new features unless you have the latest firmware to match..
CPS = Customer Programming Software, Not CPS Software.

Re: XTS2500 Conventional with MDC
Why cant motorola create a conventional radio without having to pay for trunking option that will do both encode and decode signaling, emergency IDing, without having to pay for a trunking software we will never use? The XTS2500 costs almost $1800 with everything including immersion and FM/IS. The only other thing is the HT1250 but it is not public safety grade, non immersion and non FM/IS. Departments cannot afford to shell out that kind of money.

Who said you had to pay for a trunking package to do any of what you mention?dkaskie wrote:Why cant motorola create a conventional radio without having to pay for trunking option that will do both encode and decode signaling, emergency IDing, without having to pay for a trunking software we will never use?
