Need info on rack mounted Tone remote control

Post by RFguy »

I have a console that has 6 channels. It does not have tone remote capability, but I require tone remote functionality.

I was going to take the local control outputs (PTT, TX audio, RX audio) of the console and interface it to 6 seperate tone remote controls that will efectivly turn the console to tone remote function.

I prefer to have some form of a rack mount unit. or at least a tone remote in a box enclosure. This is a security dispatch installation, so I am looking for a "proper" solution (aside from a console replacement) so $ is not the main priority here.

Any sugestions on product?

For some applications I've taken the guts from C200 & MC1000 series tone remotes & put them into low-profile Hammond enclosures with an external terminal strip, power switch, power LED & PTT LED indicators...a little time consuming but very professional looking once completed.

Here's a link to what I've used in the past:

Unless you happen to have 6 tone remotes laying around to be able to do this at a very low cost, the price of them alone would put you close to the price of a 6 slot tone remote console.
No trees were harmed in the posting of this message...however an extraordinarily large number of electrons were horribly inconvenienced.
