MT2000 Problem

Post by john5404 »

I have a front display full pad VHF MT2000. I noticed that sometimes when the volume knob is wiggled the radio will shut down and re power up. I open the unit up hoping it was cracked solder, but it needs a new POT. My problem now is, I put the radio back together and the PTT button does nothing, no transmit. All of the other side buttons work fine, and every key on the keypad works. When pushing PTT I can feel the depression of the contact as it should be, but no transmit. I open it up again and looked around but cant see a problem. Any ideas?
Thanks
P.S The radio does transmit an emergency id if the orange button is pushed...I found that out the hard way. OOOPSS

Sounds like a bad flex cable... I'd pull it back apart and make sure that the connector is firmly seated on the radio's board. You'll probably have to replace the flex.

Also might want to check the PTT popple on the flex, it's held in place with what looks like scotch tape and is easy to knock out of alignment on reassembly.

If you have an HT1000 case around w/ flex you can swap them out, these are all fromthe same flex series

CoM
If the lights are out when you leave the station and then come on the second you key up, you know you have enough power.

all you need is to swap out the control flex and thats it. The control flex should come with the volume pot and channel selector
