tone injection point and discriminator locations in sm50

Post by kd8ake »

I am trying to locate a tone injection point in the transmitter of a UHF sm50 for a repeater controller that will allow multi-tone TX operation. Also, I am looking for a way to hook into the IF detector (discriminator) output of the reciever to recieve tones. I can't find a schematic online or any info about it. Any Idea's?

You should find the signals you need on the 16 pin connector.
Go to the Batlabs page.
Go down to Model Specific info
Go down to Mobiles
Select SM50
In the first couple of lines you will see ACCESSORY PLUG
Select that.
Note that there is some confusion whether the diagram is upside down, so make sure to orient correctly.
And then verify you have it right by checking something like audio out to ensure you "find" it where you think it should be.
If memory serves me, RX audio comes out pin 11, and I think you have to program that for squelch or not in the RSS.
Flat Tx audio is pin 5.
There are three or four programmable pins, but I don't recal what they can be programmed for, you will have to look in the RSS
