MCS2000 DEK-Plus or Regular Siren Controller??

Post by Vercomm »

Hey Guys,

So I have a few questions about using an MCS2000 to control a siren on a public safety vehicle. The MCS that I am asking about is a VHF 146-174MHz, 110Watt, basic analogue flash, and the firmware is about to be upgraded to the latest version. I believe I have heard a minimum version of R05.00.00 is required, correct?

Is it possible to have the siren be activated after a cold start? By activated I mean that all a user would have to do is push the button programmed for wail or yelp on the radio control head and not have to push the siren button first?

Is the TDN6253 an appropriate speaker for the siren or what something else be better, louder, etc???

The use of the siren will be very simple, want to be able to turn wail or yelp on contiuously while heading travelling and be able to push a button on the radio control head to operate the DEK air horn momentarily. I understand that the HLN6679 or HLN6678 should be more than capable of this, correct?

Does anyone know the part number for the installation manual of the HLN6679 or HLN6678?

Anybody who has experience using DEK's on MCS's please feel free to post the advantages and disadvantages you have seen.

We are moving a small volunteer department to re-furbished MCS2000's (they previsouly had maxtracs). I think it would makes things more simplified to have everything on the radio control head, but would like your thoughts.

Thanks guys!!

Jamie
