Flashing Non FPP XTS with FPP

Post by W1HVN »

Is it possible to flash a non-FPP Flashcode XTS5KP radio and add FPP? If this is available to the average user (non mil or FCC use, private Amateur Radio use) how involved and expensive is the process and does it include a trip to Illinois or can it be done by a local dealer or M serviceman?

Thanks much

unless you have conflicting options installed, adding FPP should not be impossible. you will need the Q53 option added, book price is $75 + shipping, plus you'll need a dongle (that's $75 as well IIRC) and then add whatever labor charge the shop that performs the upgrade charges. it can be done locally however finding a shop willing to proceed with the Above Price Book (APB) process can be hit or miss

Here's the Flashcode:

500008-00048-28

Does this pose conflicting options?

Could you explain APB? New Term for me.

Your radio has a trunking flash, which means it's ineligible to be flashed with any sort of FPP.
