Impress charger

Post by rrfd43 »

OK, I got an impress charger WPLN4114AR. It has firmware version 1.20. Is there a need to upgrade this for ht1000 and xts2500 batteries to "impress" properly?

if you plan on using lithium ion or don't want your batteries corrupted by defective firmware, i'd highly recommend updating to 3.40

Updating firmware on an impres charger is pretty straightforward. You need the impres firmware updater hardware kit, and to download the firmware from MOL (if it's available on your account).

Anyway, I will concur with Jeff and say if at all possible you should have a charger that has firmware that old upgraded to the latest version.

Kilgore: Smell that? You smell that?
Lance: What?
Kilgore: Napalm, son. Nothing in the world smells like that.
Kilgore: I love the smell of napalm in the morning. You know, one time we had a hill bombed, for 12 hours. When it was all over, I walked up. We didn't find one of 'em, not one stinkin' dink body. The smell, you know that gasoline smell, the whole hill. Smelled like... victory. Someday this war's gonna end...

Is there a big enough difference between 3.30 and 3.40 to make it worthwhile to get it upgraded?

If I remember, 3.40 added support for some newer 2500 batteries, or some such.
