Spectra RE Cap time

Post by kb2cxj »

I have a UHF Spectra 40 watt dash mount radio, with a A7 head. I want to re cap it and wanted to know if there was a re cap kit for it ? when I go on line to MCM they say I have to buy way more then I can use as a minimum order. we all know about the radio shack lolol they should change there name to cell phone shack . you walk in there and ask for a part and they look at you like your from outer space.

Is it the same deal with minimums at Digikey or Mouser for the caps you need? Maybe they do not have the right caps available? The link below describes the Spectra recap issue and has digikey part numbers for the caps you need so I'd say they have them although there may be a minimum quantity.

No minimum order at Mouser, Digikey has no minimum, but adds $5 for orders under $25.
I believe Will has been using tantalum caps with good results, you may want to look into those.
