CDM accessory jack, pin to follow mic jack PTT line

Post by RF_Burns »

Hi all
Does anyone know if there is a way to program a CDM1250 accessory connector pin to follow the PTT line on the front mic jack? The old Radius and Maxtrac radios had accessory connector pin 3 (Ext PTT) simply wired in parallel with the front mic connector. But now Pin 3 is a software programmable input pin, it is not connected with the mic jack PTT.

Ideas?

thanks

Just went thru that converting a repeater from GM 300 to CDM 1250, the repeater controler uses the rear connector and the tone remote was on the mike jack. It worked fine with the GM 300 but not with the CDM 1250 as on the CDM whatever connector keys it first has control of the Xmit. If the repeater had the Xmiter keyed and a PTT came in on the mike jack it was ignored even after the repeater PTT went away.

The mike jack had to unkey and rekey to get control of the Xmiter. I could not find a way to fix it in software so I put both the repeater controler and tone remote adapter on the rear connector and used 2 diodes to isolate the PTT lines from each other.

The other problem I ran into with the CDM is the mike jack RX audio is controled by the volume control, when you connect a tone remote to the mike Jack the wireline audio level changes with the volume control. I cannot use the rear connector for the tone remote as it is already being used for flat audio to the repeater controler. Only fix I could find for this is to set the tone remote levels with the volume control marker pointing straight up and put a tag on it advising not to adjust the volume control away from the straight up position.

The GM 300 as dumb as it was worked better then a CDM in this application.
Cause Motorola said so that's why

I have a circuit board to allow me to connect multiple things to the rear accessory connector for this reason.

Sometimes I long for the good old days when there wasn't some programmer standing in the way of what you need to do.

My favorite programming language has always been solder!
