What is it?? Spectra?

Post by wiscomm »

Time for our favorite Batlabs game called "What is it?"

Just got this surplus in, it appears unused, it features Spectra badging, in a Desktrac style of case but has a "hi-rose" style plug prominently placed on front of unit.

Model No: L99ZX+255L
ID No: L35ZXM5174AM
Serial No: 518AXQ0037

My guess would be some sort of OTAR transmitter?

Any guesses?

Spectra Consolete 800 mHz 15 watt control station. Securenet capable. Probally trunking.
Extended local control with DGT9000 desksets.

The Spectra radio itself is usually A7, B7, or C7 head capable.

The hirose connector is for loading the Securenet encryption code(s).

Know in the Spectra world as a SpectraTrac......

The DGT will plug into the back and work, but...... not 100%. There is an interface that goes between the consolette and the DGT, as far as value, it supports Smartnet and conventional operation, but.... rebanding on the 800 band plan and THAT radio is not rebandable, so, it is worth whatever you can get at this point.
Kilgore: Smell that? You smell that?
Lance: What?
Kilgore: Napalm, son. Nothing in the world smells like that.
Kilgore: I love the smell of napalm in the morning. You know, one time we had a hill bombed, for 12 hours. When it was all over, I walked up. We didn't find one of 'em, not one stinkin' dink body. The smell, you know that gasoline smell, the whole hill. Smelled like... victory. Someday this war's gonna end...
