RMN5068 issues

Good morning,

I have searched the site, and have read the information posted on the difference of the RMN5068 over the old HMN1038/3000, etc.. mics.

That being said, I am needing to hook multiple mics to an XTL series radio.

I wired up 2 biscuit boxes from the accessory connector and have tested with the HMN series mics successfully.

However, obviously, you cannot purchase those new anymore.

That being said, pins 4 & 6 of the HMN series provided continuity to allow for the PTT to be grounded.

Is there a dipswitch setting / configuration I am missing that would allow me to use the new RMN series mics on a wiring to the rear connector?

Pin 16 of the accessory connector is AUX PTT. You just pull this line to ground to key the radio.

Pin 1 is the digital ground.

Pin 14 is the analog ground.

Pin 23 is the AUX MIC input. Note there is a gain setting in the RSS for this input. You also need
to be cautious that you don't load the bias down on this line so low that the mic won't work.

Thanks for the response.

I have the accessory plug wired up correctly. That isnt my problem.

My problem is with the microphone. When I push the PTT button, there is no continuity to ground out the AUX PTT pin.

What pins on the MIC do I need to use? I cant find a set that will give me the direct line to ground for the PTT.

I assume the possibility that it could be a dip switch setting as well.

RMN5068 is a desk mic, some info here: http://www.glmss.com/mss/new_motorola_d ... ne_rmn.htm

The newer Maxtrac/GM style mobile mics use a circuit that has an electronic PTT via a transistor. The PTT switch connects the mic high lead to the amplifier circuit and the PTT transistor base. So the PTT switch will not show up using an ohmmeter.

I do realize that these are deskmics. That is our desired mic.

So then is there some means of modifying the mic to allow for continuity for a PTT ground use on the accessory plug for an XTL radio?
