DVP Schematics and key question

Post by princo »

Does anyone have any schematics pertaining to DVP like the keyloader or the spectra dvp module?

Also I know that the keys are volatile, but when the key is wiped what is the code it falls back on because after all, it still transmits secure without a proper key loaded into it.

there is no fallback code ... when the key is gone it will not transmit in secure mode .. you will only get a keyfail tone (if enabled is software.)

Thanks. I suppose my newly acquired spectra has a key loaded in it still. Any Schematics out there?

Depending on the model of the secure radio, it may or may not lose its code when power is removed completely from the unit. The XTS HT has a CPS option for infinite key retention, which if not selected makes the radio dump all its secure codes when you remove the battery. I'm not familiar with the Spectra's code retention setup.

On the Spectra's I have the carrier boards have battery backup built in. I've had radios that have held the secure keys for years sitting on the shelf. But remove the hybrid from the carrier board or remove the carrier board from the radio and puff it's gone.
Schematics ? Don't know if they're out there, these were crypto items at some point.

I have the manual for the carrier boards.

You can add a jumper on the carrier board so you can remove it to work on the Spectra.
The boards have been out there long enough that the batteries are dying.
