XTS5000 Cable

Hey, I got a cable from KAWA for the XTS5000 to just JUST FOR READING radios in the field (no use in getting several OEM cables when all we need to do for this project is read), but I get a c000039e error.. does anyone know what this means? Has anyone else had this problem with this cable? Thanks!!

There are lots of posts related to this. Do a SEARCH on just the error code. One suggestion says to reinstall the CPS, another is to check the COM port chosen in the CPS, but the majority say it's your cable.

A shite cable is a shite cable. And those are definitely shite cables, and still have the potential to brick your radio even on a read. Buy a real cable.

I'm not a fan of the knock off cables either but....

That error will show if you do not have the correct port selected for the cable. Did this AM with my Motorola cables to verify, that error showed when I tried to read a radio with the USB cable and the port was selected to COM 1. Hopefully, that's all that's wrong and your cable will work OK after you change that. If not, HKN 6184A is what you want. About $60 I believe....

I think the problem is related to DC power. I've noticed that in some of the pics of the newer series of those cables up for auction show a 9 Volt battery snap connector coming out the back of the connector.

hmm..a 9V battery snap hanging off a cable you connect to a $2000-$4000 radio, almost sounds like something you might see here:

Guess I should have said that this was the USB to the GCAI connector cable...
