I am currently using DTMF mics on Maratrac/Maxtrac radios on the amateur bands. One repeater uses an access code for the autopatch such as "A11". I understand that most "ham" radio mics have keys on the side that are alpha such as A,B,C. Is there a way to pass alpha characters with the Motorola mics? I see that on the Motorola mics that for example on button 2 it lists ABC next to the #2. I have Googled for a user manual for the HMN3031A, etc without success.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Maratrac/Maxtrac DTMF mic question
The mics are not capable of adding the fourth column tones AFAIK. Are the radios you have capable of selective call encode? If so, you can put the access codes to a call list, and dial from that.

Check repeater-builder.com for the mod to get the ABCD keys, I have done several and they make a nice mic especially after the audio mod. have fun. Davie
