contact the system administrator for the system your agency will be joining.
Everyone on here is a lawyer, system administrator, doctor, economist, optimist, diesel mechanic, master electrician, plumber, HVAC/E technician, physioneurobiologist, neurosurgeon, federal agent, and god....so if you want the only safe, guarenteed information for your question, go to the person who is administering the system you are joining.
radioreference and the labs are nice, but they are NOT scripture.

No, it won't work. It doesn't do P25 trunking. Most XTS3000s/Astro Sabers won't do P25 trunking.

Cool... Thanks. What do I need to be on the lookout for when purchasing a radio. I'd prefer the xts5k, but would settle for a 2.5k. Any help is greatly appreciated.

You would need at least a newer (XTS2500, XTS5000, etc.) P25 (the NEW P25, not the old Astro Saber/XTSK Astro P25) capable radio with the proper flash.firefighter2000 wrote:Cool... Thanks. As the others has said, ask your Systems Administrator for any further questions. If you are a legitimate user, then you should have no problem getting this info, or even have the SA to program said radio for you.
Good luck.

not to beat the dead horse, but check with your sys admin first.firefighter2000 wrote:Cool... Thanks. What do I need to be on the lookout for when purchasing a radio. I'd prefer the xts5k, but would settle for a 2.5k. Any help is greatly appreciated.

also you will want to verify the history of any used radio before purchase, most state run systems won't allow radios without verified serial numbers and history on their system. it would really suck to pay $1000-1500 for a used XTS with those options and not be able to use it.

Is a verified serial number one that they run through motorola to make certain its not stolen? If I did make a purchase, I'd rather make it from someone here that I know is trusted.
Thanks

yep, most likely they will verify the history through Ma M and NCIC/state database. I'd be weary of any radios without tags, most system admins don't really like dealing with used gear. Some systems (like the one we are on) don't allow any secondhand radios on their system unless they have been performance tested and verified by their contract MSS to be in spec, and of course there is a fee for this.

A great deal of sysadmins don't allow private radios at all.

I don't think they are going to allow personal radios AT ALL on the AWIN system. Just because they can... ya know?
