Does whore flashing a XTS3000 destroy the radios codeplug?

If done the common way, yes. It hoses your tuning values, model number, serial number and all codeplug settings and replaces them with that of the donor radio. You can write down the tuning values and reprogram them afterwards but unless you know how to fix the checksums, you cannot change the serial number to match yours.

I purchased one at a hamfest a few months ago, I can read it, edit the codeplug, but when I go to reprogram it it asks for an Advanced System Key, which I dont have, I have been told my best option is to Whore flash it, so I can then reprogram it
