Jedi accessory connector
I have the adapter that fits on the Jedi series radios to use with a headset. When I screw the plug in the threaded connector and it is hooked up to the headset, the radio transmits constantly. I think it's something with the plug. Any ideas?

I would agree with you, but then we would both be wrong.

Re: Jedi accessory connector
That is a problem with the headset. The headset has to have a open DC path in the earphone circuit or the radio is keyed.
The PTT is on the earpiece circuit.

Re: Jedi accessory connector
What, exactly, are you trying to do with the headset? Exactly which Jedi series radio are you trying to use the headset with? If you're after VOX, the Jedi series (at least the older ones) doesn't offer it. If the newer ones do, you will have a setting in the RSS to configure it, and it will probably have to be enabled to keep the radio from continuously keying. Either way, you should be able to pad the mic circuit in the headset with the proper resistance to keep it from keying. I have no idea what the proper resistance would be; a little trial & error may be in order. You should also be able to put a capacitor in line with the mic circuit to stop the problem, but you will have to be careful what value you use, or it may alter the audio properties of the mic.

Re: Jedi accessory connector
Thanks for the info. I am planning to use an MTX8000, although I have also tested the headset on a MT2000. The headset is installed in a closed face helmet for ATV and snowmobiling. It will not use VOX. It has a separate PTT button that attaches to the handle bar.
I am not electronically savy enough to adjust resistance and install capacitors, unfortunately. I will have to look at a different radio series, I think.
Again, thanks for the info.

Chuck,
You need to add a capacitor in series with the earphones. PTT on the Jedi series radios is grounding the earphone line.
