16 Pin Accessory Connector

Post by coling223 »

I have a CM300 and a Communications Specialists PE-1000 paging encoder manual here-> http://www.com-spec.com/insheet/pe1khkup.pdf
I need to know how to hook them up, I know it is through the 16 pin accessory connection on the back of the radio, but thus far I have only been able to get the radio to key up, but no tones are transmitted.
Thanks
Colin

Since you can key the radio, you obviously have the PTT (pin 3) & ground (pin 7) properly hooked up. Normally for paging tones, you want to use the "flat tx" input, pin 5 to feed the tones from the panel. Pin 2 is meant for mic audio, and contains filters in the circuitry that attenuate paging tones which fall outside of the normal voice range, so Pin 5 is a better choice in your case. I don't recall exactly, but believe there is a setting in the radio software in the accessory configuration screen where you tell the radio to use the flat tx input upon external PTT.

After about an hour's worth of tinkering i restored it to it's original configuration and it turns out that changing the programming of the accessory plug does the previously mentioned stuff to the radio... weird. Does anyone know EXACTLY what the setup in CPS R05.07 for the accessory pins should be for this setup? Also, i tried just putting the tones in under Call, and making P4 the radio call button... Didn't work, any insight on this?
