need ballpark price for XTL5000 consolette

Post by adlertom »

Does anyone know the approximate cost of a new VHF XTL5000 consolette, the one than can be tone controlled by a console? Apparantly it has to be a W9 version to have this capability.

Here are some $ in Canadain list (subtract about 15% for US$)

10-50W VHF 136-174MHZ XTL 5000 CONSOLETTE $3,816.00
ADD: TONE REMOTE CONTROL XTL5000 $570.00
ADD: W7 HW SETUP CONSOLETTE $707.00 (or ADD: W9 HW SETUP CONSOLETTE $$456.00)
ENH: SOFTWARE ASTRO DIGITAL CAI OPERATION $618.00 (or ENH: SOFTWARE ASTRO READY ANALOG $0.00)
ENH: CONVENTIONAL OPERATION $960.00 (or ENH: SMARTNET OPERATION $1,440.00, or, ENH: 3600 SMARTZONE OPERATION $1,800.00)

Thank you.

Interesting that the W9 option costs less than the W7, or is that a typo?

No typo

The W9 has less hardware, no control head on the front of the consolette.

The W7 has a full control head on the radio. It is best to order it as a W7 so you can see what is going on with the radio (error codes etc)

I wanted to add that the W9 is usually used with the "digital" remotes such as the DGT9000 or the MC3000 style as the remote emulates the radio control head.

Thanks for the info. So, if a "digital" remote were used, could the operator access more than 8 channels (the limitation with tone remote control)?

Yes. The digital remote is a full "clone" of the radios control head. So an operator can change zones, channels, send an emergency. Basically every button (except the power button), and what is displayed on the radios display is available to every remote. All the remotes mirror each other. So when one remote changes channel, all others follow.
