inside the consolette is your typical looking dual 25 pin ports on the front of the radio, im wondering if the astro can be pulled out and used as a remote mount mobile with vrs, or even siren/pa as it does have the 2 ports.

There is nothing special about that radio. It is a standard mobile that was bolted down in the consolette.
You will need a standard Spectra remote control cable and a control head to match the radio. Add a speaker
and mic with the accessory cable for ignition control and your done.
kind of a waste to loose a good consolette just to turn the radio into a trunk mount mobile.
