I have previously had difficulty in working out how to adjust the carrier SQ level for 12.5KHz spacing in various European Jedi radios, such as the GP900 - which is basically identical to the American MTS2000 , MT2000 etc.
When I lowered the carrier SQ level for 12.5KHz spacing, when I looked again, the values had "reset" to 25KHz SQ levels!!!
It was only when I aquired a real "American" Visor, that I read in the RSS Help Pages that the 12.5KHz SQ level was based on an OFFSET to the 25KHz SQ level - infact there is an OFFSET number displayed on the screen. At the time, I decided to leave well alone and not touch anything!!!
It would appear that the "European" Jedi RSS had "forgotten" to include any explanation of the SQ OFFSET or display any OFFSET value!!!
I now want to adjust the SQ setting on my MTS2000 which I believe is 100% identical to American MTS2000's.
I also noticed when I was adjusting the SQ on my Jedi GP900 that if I lowered the SQ level much below the factory setting (which was too high for weak signals), then the SQ would NOT close once opened - maybe the hysterisis level was set too high?? Ineffect, the factory SQ level was actually the lowest you could go. On my other Motorola stuff, I have found that the carrier SQ setting is FANTASTIC - you can lower the SQ threshold well below the factory level to just above the noise floor and it will only open on real weak signals with no false openings etc.
Before I start experimenting with the SQ setting on my MTS2000, I would be interested in other peoples experiences??
Thanks

Re: MTS2000 - help with adjusting carrier squelch level
Once you adjust your squelch levels in the tuner section, you have to program that value first, in order to have it actually 'save' the setting.
If you back out using F10, and go back in beforfe you program the value, it will default to the previously programmed setting.

Best thing that I found out is to adjust the squelch level till it opens the move the softpot 8 to 10 numbers higher.

I have found that when adjusting the Squelch in the Service Alignment menus that you need a signal generator to test the squelch setting.
Re: MTS2000 - help with adjusting carrier squelch level
Has anybody ever set up the MTS2000 SQ for 12.5KHz spacing in the Service Menu?
Can you actually view the 12.5KHz SQ softpots so that you can write them down? Or do you only see the 25KHz SQ softpot values together with an "Offset" value - so you can never find out what the 12.5KHz SQ softpots were originally set to?
