XTS3000 Backup Codeplug?
A few years ago, I had an MTS2000 bricked by someone who didn’t know what they were doing while they were programming it. I came onto Batlabs looking for help and was told if I had a backup of my codeplug, I may be able to restore my radio. Unfortunately I did not so I lost a perfectly good radio. I just recently purchased an XTS3000 and would like to take any precautions to play it safe. Is there a correct way to back up the codeplug on an XTS3000 and is it a good idea? Thanks.

When you save what you've programmed into the radio into the CPS you've made the first backup. Then, copy the backup file from the hard drive to a thumb drive. Usually, when you open the codeplug from the thumb drive on the computer that has the CPS for the radio installed in the hard drive the file will start the program. If it doesn't, you just call up the thumb drive after you have dropped down the OPEN file in the CPS.
And no, the above procedure is not a "good" idea. It is a "mandatory" idea. It only takes one wrong keystroke to ruin a file.
