MTS2000 vs Saber Series Receive Clarity and Tone

I wanted to throw this out to the experts on this forum. I have two MTS2000 and three Saber 1's. The Sabers have their "std" good, clean slightly bass sound when I'm hearing the other party. However, when using the MTS2000's the sound is higher with a more "tinny" sound that is slightly annoying. Both very clear but you can tell the difference btwn what radio is being transmitted on. Is it just the difference in mics or is it maybe a tx/rx gain setting? As a side note, with the the 2000's only, if they are within about 30' or less, I'll get feedback if I tx.

Thanks for all the brainpower on this site. The search function didn't reveal much, so now it's on to the collective masses. What do think is going on? Just normal for this radio? Results are same with and without shoulder mic being used. All radios were recently aligned and programmed.

I think there was a Motorola notice about that issue years back..?Motorola had a foam part or something that was placed under the speaker so you will not get that "tinny"sound which was the speaker vibrating causing that "tinny"feedback...I think I read it about it a while back here on the forum??

Was that on the ext speaker/mic or the HT itself? I know I've seen the foam on Saber ext speaker/mics.

If you're getting feedback on the MTS radios at 30 feet away, I'd take a look at lowering the mic gain for starters & see how that affects your audio. As others have said, later radios had a thin foam pad on the backside of the speaker to keep it from vibrating against the metal chassis shield, which also my help. All things considered, the Saber audio did tend to have a little more 'punch' to it. It was a higher tier radio after all.

I couldn't tell if the feedback was coming from the ext mic or the HT mic.
