Post by giguchan »

Hello,
Any one who installed a 09 Chevy T blazer who went under the hood( i was told that the power source under the middle seat was not good at all- Convienant but not good) where did you find a grommet to poke through? I would rather not drill, but if i have to i will. The FW is pretty tough stuff..any spots you can recomend?
Thanks.

Normally you can find space in the rubber grommets in the firewall above the emergency brake. There is a large electrical
connector with the cables going through the grommet. Normally you can find space around the emergency cable or
something in that area. Look around with a flashlight.

You won't get through that factory grommet that has all the wiring running through it on the drivers side.... easily.

I usually blow a 3/4" or 1" hole through the firewall on the drivers side, I don't remember the exact location, but it is near the factory grommet.
Kilgore: Smell that? You smell that?
Lance: What?
Kilgore: Napalm, son. Nothing in the world smells like that.
Kilgore: I love the smell of napalm in the morning. You know, one time we had a hill bombed, for 12 hours. When it was all over, I walked up. We didn't find one of 'em, not one stinkin' dink body. The smell, you know that gasoline smell, the whole hill. Smelled like... victory. Someday this war's gonna end...

I disagree with both prior comments. i ran a remote mount CDM1550 with the chassic under my rear seat wired into the power center there with no problems whatsoever with TX or RX. i also mounted the antenna for a second radio on my fender as well as ran wiring for front warning lights and wigwags with little to no trouble as well. the factory grommet is thicker than a regular grommet, but if you use a wire punch or coat hanger to feed the wires though it is not overly dificult.
The best layed plans are always F*cked up by management.

Hello,
thanks for the reply... I looked at and it and the solution seemed to be much more than i was capable to dealing with.. I just went to the Power center.. I was warned that this might not be a good idea.. but once again (2nd install). This time i have not had any problems..

I was pretty much comitted already i had the Headliner down and was well on my way to drilling the roof.
