HT1550 and all Prof Series PORTABLES On-Off..On-Off..On-Off
Does anyone know what causes and what the fix is for my HT1550XLS UHF portable that goes off and powers itself up again with the SLIGHTEST movement or vibration. The radio will do this while I'm walking with it in my back pocket AND I've actually seen it do this while it is standing on a table. It IS NOT the batteries. It will do this with any battery. My bosses EX-600 does the same thing and I've seen this in other Pro Series portables as well. HELP. THX Hal

It's probably the battery contacts on the back of the radio, i had an HT1250 that did the same thing, it was still under warranty and it had to be sent in to get fixed, this was a common problem with that series. I think there is already discussion on somewhere the forum about it.

"Yes....but we'll hit theirs as well. We have reserves....attack"

There was a recall on this: the fix is called the "Battery Containment Kit." The recall end 2 years ago. It is a simple fix. Send it your local Motorola Shop, or contact escomm or any of the Moto tech's on this site.

Take a look at the gasket surrounding the battery contacts. Believe they started with orange and the one's that were fixed as indicated above went to a blue gasket.
